Mission Statement
- The mission of St. Mary’s Episcopal Center, Inc. a not for profit skilled nursing facility located in Harlem, is to provide quality healthcare, addiction counseling, abstinence support and social services to people living with HIV/AIDS. Our services are provided in a clean and safe homelike environment free from abuse, neglect and mistreatment.
- All services are geared toward maintaining the resident’s dignity and respect. We educate, support and empower each resident and when appropriate, their significant others with information and resources improving and maintaining the highest possible quality of life while living with AIDS.
- We strive to continuously improve services through the recruitment and retention of competent, qualified and caring staff.
- We monitor quality of care through our interdisciplinary Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
- We participate in community education and outreach efforts to continue close relationships with other service providers and to maintain our integral role as a member of the Harlem community .
Vision Statement
- We believe that our 40-bed capacity is essential to capturing the essence of the philosophy of our organization. We are small by design.
- Our vision is to be known as a premier provider of AIDS care in the City of New York. To further this goal, we will improve program operations through enhanced training for staff and greater accountability.
- We will expand services as the need arises in order to keep abreast of changing trends in the management of this disease.
- We will assist residents who can return to productive lives in the community to do so by providing the support, guidance and resources necessary for a smooth and easy readjustment.
- We recognize the totality of the human being and offer a strong spiritual component in all of our care. We respect the right of the individual to choose his/her own path, but are available to counsel and give moral support as needed.
- For those residents requiring end of life care we will provide palliative care with dignity, respect and compassion. We will include the family, friends and significant others in this care according to the resident’s wishes. We will also provide support to them.
